Through research related to our Action Entrepreneurship initiative, we determined that the Canadian environment for youth entrepreneurship is mixed: not everyone sees it as a viable career option; skills training and access to resources vary; and people do not consistently pursue opportunities for market growth. To capitalize on Canada’s entrepreneurial potential, we must promote, inspire and expand young enterprise. Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) is an important way that we accomplish this goal and help foster a more entrepreneurial country.

To address youth directly, we have embarked on a pilot project to bring GEW to post-secondary campuses across the country for the GEW Canada Campus Ambassador program. This program was created by student members of the GEW Canada Advisory Council who continue to provide guidance and support to Futurpreneur Canada and to our new GEW Canada Campus Ambassadors.

In recent years, we have seen a rise in entrepreneurial programs and support systems develop across Canadian campuses. As the official host of GEW Canada, Futurpreneur Canada hopes to use GEW to make connections between these programs and to facilitate networks for established and budding student entrepreneurs.

Please join us in congratulating our 2014 GEW Canada Campus Ambassadors who will spend the next month championing GEW at their schools by coordinating events, making connections and promoting entrepreneurship!
