This past May, we celebrated our 20th Anniversary with an award ceremony that recognized not only some of the entrepreneurs that we’ve helped over the last two decades, but also our partners in the community that have gone above and beyond to help the next generation of entrepreneurs.

The Centre for Entrepreneurship Education and Development Incorporated (CEED) is one of those organizations that are contributing to the entrepreneurial ecosystem and helping aspiring entrepreneurs in their community. Because of their dedication, they took home the 2016 Community Partner Award presented by RBC at our Action Entrepreneurship Summit in May.

CEED has been committed to advancing and supporting the spirit of entrepreneurship in Nova Scotia for more than 20 years. They deliver innovative programs and services that empower individuals and communities to achieve their full potential. CEED’s broad mandate encompasses social and economic principles, working towards a vision of a vibrant and entrepreneurial Nova Scotia.

As part of their commitment to encourage a culture that values and celebrates entrepreneurship, CEED works with schools, post-secondary institutions and community groups across Nova Scotia. Their Entrepreneurship Education team puts innovative entrepreneurship learning directly in the hands of over 4,000 youth annually, demonstrating to them the viability of entrepreneurship as a career option. CEED also works with young people in Nova Scotia through their Youth Employability Project, using experimental learning to help young people explore their potential.

Each year, CEED helps to increase the number of entrepreneurs operating in Nova Scotia, supporting small businesses with training, financing and networking. In addition, they support entrepreneurs of all ages through a 40-week Self-Employment Benefits (SEB) program that guides new entrepreneurs from idea generation to launch.

CEED has had a formal partnership with us, Futurpreneur Canada, for more than 15 years and over those years we have collaborated to support hundreds of young entrepreneurs. Our Futurpreneur office in Atlantic Canada has been an active member within the CEED community, with our staff acting as panelists, guest facilitators and partners. “We are extremely fortunate to have such a strong entrepreneurial support system in Nova Scotia, and Futurpreneur is a key member of that,” Caitlin Patterson, CEED’s Marketing & Communication Officer explains. “CEED is committed to working side-by-side with other like-minded organizations, such as Futurpreneur, to help Nova Scotian’s achieve their dreams.”

CEED shared that the growth of entrepreneurship within Atlantic Canada is exciting, and they emphasized on how enabling youth to unleash their talent, think differently and embrace the art of the possible – they open more doors, to more opportunity and growth.

At Futurpreneur Canada, we look forward to continue to work with CEED and other organizations like them to help young entrepreneurs grow and flourish in cities like Nova Scotia and beyond. Our Regional Director in Atlantic Canada, Nicole Osmond shared that CEED is a model partner when it comes to being a champion of Futurpreneur and our offerings to clients. “In addition to being a strong partner for Futurpreneur, CEED is a leader in the entrepreneur ecosystem, and working together we can advance our shared goal to build and empower a vibrant entrepreneurial community,” Nicole says.

Congratulations to CEED, our 20th Anniversary Community Partner Award winner!
