Spotlight on LTYBOX: Making It Easier to Develop Healthy Food Habits

LTYBOX

Cedric Bourdelais, the founder and president of LTYBOX, has long kept a special place for football in his life, including having had the opportunity to coach youth at different levels for the past five years. Through this involvement, the 24-year-old entrepreneur says he has seen how one can have a positive impact on the lives of people around them. It’s also on a football field that the idea for LTYBOX came to him, when he noticed how players increasingly neglected having healthy eating habits, though it is an important component to their success. “While speaking with people, I could see that their poor eating habits weren’t due to a lack of interest, but rather a lack of organization, lack of resources and diverging information which gave them the impression that eating healthy was complicated.”

Cedric then asked himself what would be a quick and easy way to bring people to adopt healthier eating habits. A simple question deserved a simple answer: nutritionists managing their groceries as well as planning the ideal menu for them and their families. And that’s how LTYBOX came to be. Collaborating with Mélanie Olivier, founder of Vivaï Nutrition Experts, has made it possible for the LTYBOX to offer its clients the best expertise out there. Cedric’s e-commerce experience coupled with Melanie’s nutritional expertise is proving to be a winning formula.

LTYBOX is the first company in Canada to offer health grocery delivery fully managed by nutritionists. Its weekly subscriptions, available for one or two people, or as a family package, include a food plan, balanced recipes and the grocery items customers need to prepare breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks for five days of the week. Only fresh food find their place in the boxes which are home delivered for free. LTYBOX currently offers a ‘4 weeks health challenge’ subscription, with the upcoming launch of ‘Building muscle mass’, ‘Weight loss’ and ‘Balanced diet’ subscriptions. With delivery of weekly boxes already available in most of the Quebec province, the company is aiming to have a presence throughout the territory of Quebec in the near future, and is looking to grow to Ontario by January 2017.

Based in Saint-Eustache, the business is drawing attention in the region, having recently been crowed winner in the Défi OSEntreprendre ‘Trade’ category at the local level, as well as for the ‘Coup de pouce’ Award from the Chamber of commerce of Lac des Deux-Montagnes (CCI2M). Its location is part of its business strategy, says Cedric, to minimize its distance to local producers.

Always a coach at heart, Cedric advises aspiring entrepreneurs not to be afraid to go for it: “Once you have your helmet trapped to your head and your two feet on the entrepreneurship field, you only have to take it one yard at a time. It is easier to score a touchdown while on the field than sitting on the bench.”
