Halifax-based Centre for Entrepreneurship Education and Development wins RBC’s Community Partner Award, presented by Futurpreneur Canada

For immediate release

TORONTO (May 31, 2016) At today’s Action Entrepreneurship Canadian Summit in Toronto, Futurpreneur Canada and RBC announced the Centre for Entrepreneurship Education and Development (CEED) as the RBC Community Partner Award winner. This award recognizes one of Futurpreneur Canada’s partner organizations for making a significant impact on entrepreneurs.

“CEED’s vision is that of a vibrant and entrepreneurial Nova Scotia and we are strongly committed to working side-by-side with other like-minded organizations, such as Futurpreneur, to help Nova Scotian’s achieve their dreams,” said Laurie Cameron, President and CEO, CEED. “It is an honour to be recognized by Futurpreneur as a respected and trusted partner in this endeavour.”

CEED has a provincial mandate to provide entrepreneurial programming across Nova Scotia, and in 2011 the organization stepped up to act as a strong community partner to serve communities across Nova Scotia. CEED’s programming and support reaches many emerging business owners in communities that do not already have an organization set up to help young entrepreneurs. CEED was recognized as an Outstanding National CYBF Community Partner in 2005, and have continued to honour that recognition ever since.

“Our future will be directly impacted by the energy, enthusiasm and ideas of our youth.  CEED Centre exemplifies how communities can prosper by fostering and supporting young Nova Scotian entrepreneurs,” said Valerie Chort, Vice President, Corporate Citizenship, RBC.  “RBC is a longtime supporter of Futurpreneur and youth entrepreneur programming, and we share in the honour of presenting this worthy organization this award.”

“CEED is an outstanding partner for Futurpreneur, in every sense,” said Nicole Osmond, Regional Director, Atlantic Canada, Futurpreneur Canada. “They are the model partner when it comes to being a champion of our organization, our programs and offering our clients excellent service and support. In addition to being a strong partner for Futurpreneur, CEED is a leader in the entrepreneur ecosystem, and working together we can advance our shared goal to build and empower a vibrant entrepreneurial community.”

The Community Partner Award was one of five awards that Futurpreneur presented today.  Other awards included the Clearwater Entrepreneur of the Year Award, the BDC Mentorship Award, the Shopify Grit Award and the Youth Business International Beyond Borders Award. These awards are one way the organization is celebrating its 20th anniversary, by recognizing top Futurpreneur-supported entrepreneurs and the people and organizations that support their success.
