Who knew that the high-quality, organic potatoes found in BC’s “Spud Valley” combined with the glacial waters of mountain creeks would be the perfect ingredients for a premium, organic vodka?
Tyler Schramm of Pemberton Distillery

Tyler Schramm did.

After studying potato vodka distilling at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, Scotland, Tyler returned to his brother’s potato farm in Pemberton, B.C. to begin working on his dream of building his own distillery.

Together with the investment of CYBF and the support of Capilano University, Tyler launched Pemberton Distillery Inc. (brand name Schramm Vodka) in 2009 with great success. Within just one year, Tyler received global recognition at the World Spirits Awards in Austria and was featured as a showcased product during the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver B.C.

While he is proud of the international acclaim his certified organic potato vodka has received, Tyler is equally devoted to building his community.

“I wanted to create a business that could make a bit of a difference in my community. As an entrepreneur, I have been able to make decisions that I think are beneficial to more than just my business. I use organic, locally grown products and as a result, more attention has been brought to Pemberton and to its agriculture.”

Cheers to that.
