Canadian sports-lovers and investors were listening last week as Canadian Tire announced its takeover of Calgary-based sports retailer Forzani’s Group Ltd. Realizing Canadian Tire stores had little to attract the 18-34-year-old consumer, and with US competitors like Dick’s Sporting Goods eying the Canadian market, company executives decided the best way to react to the changing market and remain competitive was through growth.
