Entrepreneurs Share Why You Should Attend the Action Entrepreneurship Canadian Summit This Year

Lauren Marinigh | April 20, 2016

The Action Entrepreneurship Canadian Summit, presented by Meridian, is taking place in Toronto from May 30th to 31st this year. The event brings together 300 young entrepreneurs and leaders from across the country to share their expertise, attend professional development workshops, network, and hear from inspiring speakers.

This year the lineup of speakers and workshop presenters is filled with incredible business experts who are eager to share their experience and expertise with attendees. There will be a keynote address from Greg Taylor, Co-Founder of Steam Whistle Brewing, a panel with Herschel Segal, Founder of Le Chateau, and Co-Founder of DAVIDsTea, and Sarah Segal, Founder of Squish Candy, plus interactive workshops hosted by several business leaders including Sean Wise, Professor of Entrepreneurship, Ryerson University and Stephen Shedletzky, Head Engagement Officer, Start With Why.

To give you an idea of what some of the attendees experienced last year, and why they’d recommend you attend this May, we asked them to share their experience with us. Check out what they had to say:

“I would encourage others to attend because for new owners, it is a great chance to hear from industry experts and hear from panelists on issues of concern. And as an experienced owner, it will either give you confidence to continue on your path, or it may spur a new innovative idea to help you further your growth. You never lose by attending such events and meeting with other business owners or experts.” – Paul Currie, Quickprint Services Ltd. (St. John’s, NL)

“The action entrepreneurship summit energized me. When I went to the summit last year I was really troubled by the stage of business that we were going through; my husband and I were not even sure if our business was going to die. We had a terrible winter and had made minimal revenue, but had huge responsibilities and bills. Being able to sit with the experts at the roundtable sessions really helped me to realize that I was facing a challenge that many entrepreneurs experience. The vast experience of the experts that were available to speak with the entrepreneurs was such a gift to me and my business. I rarely have the time to step away from my business and get the insight that I need, and some experts are out of my network and totally out of reach to our business. I was able to take away some action items, and use some fresh ideas that were presented. In addition, I met a mentor who would stick by my side and help me with strategy in my business.” – Natalie Frederick-Wilson, House of Auto Details (Bedford, NS)

“The summit allowed me to meet other entrepreneurs like me, get inspired by them, and discuss how they find a way to solve common problems. Also, the summit allowed me to create new contacts that helped me to develop my new business. I really loved this experience and would recommend it to anyone.” – Alexandre Goupil-Lévesque, Nouwee (Lachute, QC)

If that’s not enough to convince you, did we mention that on the second day of the summit we will be celebrating our 20th anniversary with a party? We can’t reveal too much yet, but to give you some hints, there will be treats, a chance to support local businesses, and a whole bunch of our friends we want to introduce you to.
