For Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) this week, we have teamed up with Amway Canada to send three ambassadors across the country to report live from the road as they visit Canadian entrepreneurs, small businesses, community partners in the entrepreneurial ecosystem, and attend GEW events. Yesterday Cierra was on the road in Calgary, Alberta for the day. Here is a recap of her day and some of the ‘ah-ha’ moments she had along the way.

Heading from Vancouver to Calgary for a quick day to explore the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Calgary, Cierra met with Futurpreneur Regional Director, Rob, before they met with Leighton from Launch Calgary and chatted about his software at Lina’s Bakery.

Afterwards Cierra headed to Clear Float Spa where she chatted with the owner, Bryce. “From Bryce, I learned that you have to take the leap of faith, dive deep into something you’re passionate about and believe in yourself,” Cierra explained. “At Clear Float, Bryce has created a community and experience for the clients; this is how you run a proper business. He also offers his clients a tea and writes them a personalized note after each float.”

Next, Cierra was off to Gravity Café and met with Suzanna from Business Link, a local organization that supports entrepreneurs.

Cierra’s Insights:
“Suzanna from Business Link was insightful and a very hardworking women. She is very passionate about helping entrepreneurs and I appreciated her focus for Aboriginal communities.”

To end the day in Calgary, Cierra headed to Entrepeer, a networking event hosted by Futurpreneur and The Keg to learn more from local entrepreneurs and mentors.

Cierra’s key learning from her day in Calgary was: “I learned that no matter where you are located in this world, if you’re passionate you can make your dream come true anymore.”

With her stop in Calgary, this concluded Cierra’s GEW adventure. She will be heading back home to Windsor, Ontario with all the knowledge and lessons she took from her week on the road for Global Entrepreneurship Week.
