If you’re reading this, you’ve probably made the decision to start a company blog. If so, give yourself a pat on the back, because this is a brilliant idea! Blogging is an excellent way to position your business as a thought leader. Not only will sharing your knowledge and insight make you look like an industry expert, but it will help your audience gain trust in you.

Here are a few ways to make sure you’re getting the most out of your blogs when it comes to marketing:

Set Goals

First thing’s first: you need a plan. Take some time to decide what you want your blogs to do for your business. Who do you want to attract? How do you want to position your brand? What do you want to write about?

Once you’ve fine-tuned all the details, we suggest creating a calendar of what you’ll be writing about, and when you’ll be publishing it. Audiences like structure and predictability: they want to be able to count on when your next post will be available. People will quickly lose interest in your blog if you’re not posting regularly, or at all.

Get writing

Once you’ve got a foolproof plan in place, it’s time to carry it out. Readers enjoy relatable content that is easy to read and understand. If they can relate to something, they’re much more likely to share it. Top 10 and How-To articles are both great examples of articles that your readers will be drawn to.

An added bonus: they’re simple and fun to write, too!

It’s crucial that you understand your audience and gear your writing towards their interests. Keep your blogs short to avoid losing any interest—we suggest 300-500 words. And most importantly: be creative! There are thousands of blogs out there. You want yours to stand out.

The whole purpose of writing a blog is to have people read it, and one of the fastest, most efficient ways to make that happen is to post your content on social media. Social media is an ideal platform to share your information with the people who matter most to your business— your target audience!

Before you choose which platform to share on, consider both your goals and your audience. Where are they most likely to be, and what type of content will they be interested in? While Facebook is one of the most used platforms, if you have a younger, more visual audience, you might want to consider Instagram as well.

Blogging is a great way to market your business and position your brand as an industry leader. It’s important to create a blogging schedule that works for you, but don’t forget to have fun with your blog… it is creative writing after all.

Happy writing everyone!
