Thanks to our strong board, team and a tremendous network of Canadian and global partners, Futurpreneur has increased the number of start-ups we support by over 70%, rebranded and significantly raised our Canadian and global reputation, secured record amounts of support for young entrepreneurs, and launched Action Entrepreneurship, FuturForums and other Canada-wide events to create broad consensus and action to grow entrepreneurship.”

A Year in Review

It was an exciting and impactful fiscal 2018 for Futurpreneur Canada. From watching our young entrepreneurs across the country expand and grow through our Growth Accelerator Program, to witnessing the comradery of an entire community in rural B.C. come together through the ThriveNorth Business Challenge, Futurpreneur Canada is proud to share highlights from some of our initiatives and programs that took place within fiscal 2018.

BY THE NUMBERS

Job one is to support the entrepreneurs and to accomplish this we ensure our resource allocations and investments start with them. In each of the last three years we have supported more than 1,000 new youth-led businesses as follows; FY18: 1,037 FY17: 1,068 and FY16, 1,006. New business starts planned to be financed with debt slowed a bit in the last year with rising interest rates and our results reflect that too.

We ensure those who apply can be adequately served with access to direct programs which represent 83% of our total investment, while costs for administration are kept to 8% and the remaining 9% is invested to build program awareness, outreach and fundraising capacity.

Loans are made to new youth led businesses and entrepreneurs repay at a rate of 83% enabling their repayments to fund the next cohort of Futurpreneurs. We continue to provide strong support to our loan recipients for the five years their term loan is outstanding with us, with flexibility to serve their needs with early redemption options and restructuring.
