Global Entrepreneurship Week: GEW 2014

1 week, 150 countries, 20,000 activities. Celebrate GEW Canada 2014.

Global Entrepreneurship Week 2014

From November 17-23, Futurpreneur Canada celebrated its sixth year as the official host of Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) in Canada! Over the past six years, the organization has worked diligently to build the movement in Canada, with hundreds of partners making it all possible.

In 2014, Canada built on the momentum of past years and hundreds of partners came together to host a record 475+ events and over a hundred additional activities online.

How we celebrated

  • The City Battle: For the previous two years, Ottawa has hosted more events than any other Canadian city. In 2014 it took on challengers to compete for the title of “Most Entrepreneurial City” where after a close call between several cities, Vancouver took home the title.
  • On-campus Celebrations: Eleven volunteer  Campus Ambassadors were championing entrepreneurship at their schools across the country by coordinating events and making connections, plus 10 Enactus student groups hosted Unleash Your Inner Entrepreneur events to educate 18-24-year olds about entrepreneurship.
  • Award-winning Mentorship: Behind the Scenes: We hosted a behind the scenes webinar with several leading mentors and business leaders that was open to anyone around the world.
  • Policy and government: On Friday, November 21, elected officials across Canada were invited to meet with entrepreneurs as part of the Day in the Life Challenge.
