BG Group partners with CYBF to help advance youth startups in B.C

British energy company BG Group said last week it will provide $5-million in funding to help advance youth startups focused on liquified natural gas development in British Columbia. The investment, made through a partnership with the Canadian Youth Business Founda-tion (CYBF), aims to enhance business opportunities for First Nations and communities in the area of BG’s proposed Prince Rupert LNG project in next five years, the company said in a statement. “BG Group is in-vesting directly in the future of our northern communities,” B.C.’s Deputy Premier and Minister of Natural Gas Development Rich Coleman said in a statement. “This is the first of many social benefits we expect to see as a result of liqui-fied natural gas development.” BG expects to make a final invest-ment decision on the Prince Ru-pert venture in 2016.
