FUTURPRENEUR CANADA WELCOMES WOMEN-FOCUSED 2018 FEDERAL BUDGET

Canadian government responds to need for more female entrepreneurs

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

TORONTO, CANADA – FEBRUARY 27th, 2018 – Today’s federal budget took aim at the dismal number of female-led businesses. Standing at just 16 per cent, women entrepreneurs can now capitalize on historic investments to position themselves for launch, scale and export.

The investments build on the federal government’s track record of funding for organizations that effectively support women entrepreneurs, including Futurpreneur Canada. Each year, 40 per cent of the 1,000+ businesses launched by 18-39 year-old clients of Futurpreneur are female-led.

“The Government of Canada clearly recognizes the tremendous value to aspiring women entrepreneurs of the business skills development, mentoring and growth support that are hallmarks of Futurpreneur Canada’s Start-up program.” said Futurpreneur Canada CEO Julia Deans. “We are excited to see new opportunities to grow our support for women and to collaborate with the Business Development Bank of Canada and other partners to help them bring their entrepreneurial dreams to life and make their full mark on the Canadian economy.”

Futurpreneur Canada prides itself on being a leading resource, having supported more than 10,000 young Canadians in creating businesses across the country. Futurpreneur Canada welcomes additional budget announcements that will improve opportunities for women and other entrepreneurs to take advantage of opportunities for export, venture capital, federal procurement, intellectual property development and federal advice and programs.
