Valérie Bellavance will be one of 230 attendees at Governor General’s Canadian Leadership Conference

LAVAL, January 17, 2012 – The Canadian Youth Business Foundation (CYBF) is pleased to announce that Valérie Bellavance, CYBF’s Senior Director, Quebec  has been selected  to attend the 2012 Governor General’s Canadian Leadership Conference. Two hundred and thirty young leaders were chosen from 2,400 applicants across Canada to attend this 15-day conference taking place in June 2012.

“Since joining CYBF in 2004, Valérie has successfully carved out a position for our organization in Quebec’s thriving entrepreneurship community. She is considered an expert on entrepreneurship in the province and has built lasting partnerships between government, private companies, not-for-profit organizations and media in support of entrepreneurs. Under her exceptional leadership, CYBF provided support to 259 Quebec entrepreneurs in 2011, more than in any other province” said Vivian Prokop, chief executive officer, Canadian Youth Business Foundation. “I congratulate Valérie on being selected to participate in the Governor General’s Canadian Leadership Conference. This will be an outstanding opportunity for personal growth and for her to support CYBF’s dedication to thought leadership in Canada.”

The Governor General’s Canadian Leadership Conference was created to broaden the perspectives of future leaders in business, unions and public administration so that their decisions are based on a practical understanding of the influence of their organizations on the general welfare of the community. Conference members come from different regions, different perspectives and different careers. All are high potential individuals expected to achieve senior leadership positions in their organizations and communities within 10 years.

“I am honoured to have been selected to participate in this conference,” said Valerie Bellavance, Senior Director, Canadian Youth Business Foundation. “I look forward to working with and learning from talented leaders from across Canada and then using this learning to benefit CYBF and young entrepreneurs across Quebec.”

Ms. Bellavance was invited to apply for the 2012 conference, which will highlight the theme of Leadership and Sustainable Communities. She believes the conference will be an opportunity to learn and exchange ideas with talented individuals from across the country and provide insight into the differences and similarities of communities around Canada.
