Chief Financial Officer
For Rebecca Dew, learning and personal growth is a life-long journey. Rebecca joined Futurpreneur Canada as chief financial officer in January 2011 and is passionate about the emphasis the organization places on mentoring for young entrepreneurs. She was following her desire to do meaningful work and to motivate and inspire others when she moved to the not-for-profit sector.
Before coming to Futurpreneur Canada, Rebecca worked in many progressive corporate roles at Black Photo Corporation leading diverse functions including Finance, IT and HR. During her career at Black’s, the company developed from a family-run business into a subsidiary of a global company. Her career started at KPMG as an auditor and many clients were entrepreneurially run businesses.
Dedicated to continuous learning, Rebecca has a Bachelor in Business Administration and has a Chartered Accountant designation. She completed the Ivey Leadership Program at the University of Western Ontario and is currently completing a certification in professional coaching through the Adler Institute and the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE).
“Young entrepreneurs learn exceptionally valuable skills as they set up their businesses. Starting a business enables them to be creative and resourceful and that provides value to themselves, to their communities and to our economy.”
An active volunteer, Rebecca spends 150 hours a year volunteering in activities that include sharing her business skills and experience with a local food bank. She also supports volunteer programs for youth and parents in high risk communities and provides career transition coaching for women.
